- New Death metal is still good you just got to find the right bands because 90% of what people consider Death metal nowadays is actually that Deathcore crap and the musicians who make it are ignorant of there own genre and call themselves Death metal when they actually aren't and then the fans of those bands call them death metal so people end up thinking that's new Death metal but it isn't,
- @crackerHero That's not saying much, Cannibal Corpse sucks. They're an annoying temper tantrum. It's really quite pathetic. I just found this but it's not half bad. I would like to see a remaking of this album with better production but this is pretty fucking awesome for 80's metal.
- All these extreme metal pioneers were into hardcore punk. There are several interviews which Quorthon expressed his fondness for british punk acts Discharge, GBH and Exploited. Hardcore bands brought speed into the mix... Just listen to Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" or Slayer's "Show No Mercy", for example; it is basically sped up New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The punk influence was always there, and Bathory's no different.

- Punk and metal have always borrowed from each other. All that deathcore really is modern styles of metal and modern styles of hardcore and punk mixed together with some borrowing from older sounds. There are a whole generation of kids that never even grew up when those "troo" bands were actually playing. Yet they act like they're better than everyone else with different tastes JUST because a band is older or they only play sounds that are the same as stuff from the 80's and 90's. Grow up.

- But isn't that a concept imagined long AFTER Quorthon made this album? He made his music after his own heart, don't think he had early 80's punk in mind at all, and if he did, great, I love it all. So BlackCore, is that something that has emerged as a term from Darkthrone, or when was it first described? I surely see what you mean.
