  • - What do you think about this? see, and tell us now.
  • - Anyone else think he sounded drunk in this video?
  • - Just to clarify a few things here. The mildly radioactive product you get when you process rare earths is called Thorium. You can make nuclear fuel out of it, but it is not in fact toxic. Unlike uranium, which is about as toxic as lead, for many of the same reasons, thorium does not actually get taken into our cells at all. It is essentially biologically inert, and passes straight through the system. No muss, no fuss. And with a half-life of 14-15 billion years, its about as radioactive as your average beach sand.
  • - Nigga, you high??
  • - get it to space and then fly it into the sun simple.
  • - ...wind turbans? lol
  • - are you my mummy? (2:28)
  • - Funniest episode they've made in a while.
  • - He is so so so nerd that i like him
  • - disposal is easy, you dig a really deep hole, put all of the waste in it, cover it in cerran wrap, and then put a giant welded on metal cap on it
  • - buy a razor and use it!
  • - Where was ununseptnium or ununoctium or the other rare elements
  • - Dude! Do you have a drinking problem? Your show is sinking to the bottom of the bottle.
  • - you look funny as shit with facial hair
  • - I love how excited Hank is about the periodic table. Hank, your chemistry geek is showing :P
  • - LFTR
  • - Yeah but these "radioactive waste products from a rare earth mine" are in fact harmless, mainly chemically toxic but their radiation is trivially harmless. Also, most of it is just thorium and what people don't understand is how we should harness the thorium cycle.
  • - This is pretty unrelated, but can you do a video on radiation poisoning and radon in homes?
  • - Is this made for children?
  • - METH IS A GOOD IDEA TRUST ME I'M FRIENDLY
  • - I dont really know why, but my teacher pronounces actinides as "acid-dines"?
  • - Rare Earth Elements
  • - why is glass stransparent? pls dont say it's liquid it's pretty obvious that glass is not liquid.
  • - He was so drunk, so drunk..
  • - hank seems wasted lol
  • - he has a beard
  • - "No more Neodymium for you!" That is exactly what I expect from the CEO of a major Rare Earth refinery's statement.
  • - Even if toxic or radioactive waste were dropped into the sun or even into an earth volcano--that toxicity would still affect the environment--in ways that would be even more unpleasant and more far-reaching. Human beings are always looking for easy answers to dispose of the garbage of their civilization, but they rarely think through the consequences of their actions--they don't know enough and are too lazy to do the math!
  • - in six years you going to regret that words about "toxic" thorium 232 ;)-it's just cheap underestimated fuel!
  • - That toxic waste can be made into thorium nuclear reactors that are much safer, cheaper, and easy to maintain.
  • - Is it just me or does Hank seem like he's high in this episode?
  • - Array
  • - drop the waste in volcanoes
  • - I love how he is so enthusiastic! 😄😄
  • - Why not just shoot toxic waste into the sun? I mean, we have NASA, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and a whole ton of dependency on the main stuff and not the by-product. Someone just incinerate it already!
