- I thought CH3O is a base, not a nucleophile. How do I differentiate between a base and nucleophile?
- @MadScientist7777 I believe we only draw one pair because even though there are two lone pairs, only one pair is doing anything. It's just like how we only draw the hydrogens that do stuff, but leave the others invisible. Hope this helps. :)
- @sssana bases are nucelophile so a rule of thumb is nucelophile electron rich which is bases and and electrophile are electron poor or acid
